Bujagali Transmission Lines and Substations

Financed by Japan and ADB Have Been COMPLETED

 

The Bujagali Interconnection Project, financed by Japan and African Development Bank (ADB), has been completed. The project aims to provide adequate transmission capacity for evacuation of power from Bujagali Power Station to Kawanda, Nalubaale, Tororo, and Mutundwe. ADB has financed USD 30 million, and the Government of Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided the loan of JPY 3.484 billion (approximately USD 30 million at the exchange rate in 2007 when Japan singed for the project).

 

On 3 May, Ambassador Minagawa celebrated the handover together with the Vice President, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Representative of ADB Uganda, Senior Representative of JICA Uganda,  and other more than 100 guests at Kawanda Substation.
