Exchange of Notes of “the Project for Provision of Improved Water Source for Resettled Internally Displaced Persons in Acholi Sub-Region” and “the Project for Rural Electrification Phase III”
H.E. Kazuo Minagawa, Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, and Hon. Maria Kiwanuka, Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, have today signed Exchange of Notes of two grant projects of JPY 2.177 billion (approximately US$21.77 million) in total: “the Project for Provision of Improved Water Source for Resettled Internally Displaced Persons in Acholi Sub-Region” and “the Project for Rural Electrification Phase III.”
The first project aims at facilitating the IDPs’ return and resettlement process through improved water provision in Acholi Sub-Region in the Northern Uganda : drilling 116 boreholes and establishing six piped water systems. The second project aims at extending the distribution system for reliable and stable supply of electricity to the rural communities in rural communities in the Eastern Uganda.
