Since the government introduced Universal Primary Education, there has been an increase in pupil enrolment from 42,678 to 61,267. Unfortunately, this increase in enrolment has not been met with increase in resource allocation. The available classrooms accommodate only 21,546 pupils leaving 39,744 pupils especially in lower class to study under trees. The desks too are not enough. The district needs to construct at least 736 classrooms and 13,248 desks in order to address this problem. This project will construct one classroom block with two classrooms in each of six primary schools and purchase desks as a way of addressing the problem of inadequate facilities in Butaleja district.
2. Handing Over Ceremony
The Deputy Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, Mr. Masaki Shiga attended the handing over ceremony at Buhasango Primary School on 24th September 2010.
