This project is located in Busano and Busoba Sub-counties, Bungokho County, Mbale District. Current water coverage in Mbale district is 45 percent, compared to the national average of 60 percent. This project reduced the amount of time spent on fetching water from long distances.
A total of 1,985 people live within a radius of 500 metres of the project outlets and hence classified as the direct beneficiaries. The scheme will construct 34 tap stands, serving 397 homesteads and 2,820 students of Nabumali Secondary School. This is expected to significantly contribute to the reduction of water related diseases and improve the general health and hygiene situation in Busano and Busoba Sub-counties.
2. Handing Over Ceremony
The Deputy Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, Mr. Masaki Shiga attended the handing over ceremony in Busano Sub County on 23th September 2010.
