Fort Portal Municipal Council waste generation is estimated at 89 tonnes each day; however the available facilities could only transport about 37 tonnes a day. Through this project, garbage collection tools have been procured to ensure effective garbage collection and transportation. The tools that have been procured include a skip loader, a garbage skip and a tractor. The project contributes to the reduction of sanitation related diseases in the area.
2. Handing Over Ceremony
The Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, Mr. Keiichi Kato attended the handing over ceremony at Fort Portal Municipality on 16th September 2010.
