Wakiso District is formed in 2000 adjoining Kampala where many of the habitant work or study in Kampala. The population of Wakiso is about 1.05million (2007) but is still increasing correspond to the expansion of that of the capital. There are 249 government aided primary schools among 1,221 primary schools in Wakiso. Recently, Northern Uganda is receiving more support from International and Governmental organisations that leave areas surrounding capital, such as Wakiso, from development of social infrastructures. Further, introduction of the Universal Primary Education (UPE) encouraged and increased the enrolment rate however the number of teachers and classrooms are not overtaking. Through this project, classroom blocks were constructed and furnishedwith school furniture, latrine block was constructed and water tank was set. The two schools will benefit from this project and many other children who will join the school in the near future.
2.Handing Over Ceremony
The Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, Mr. Kazuo Minagawa, attended the handing over ceremony at St. Jude Banda Primary School in Wakiso on 9th September 2011.
