Kaliro district has 89 government-aided primary schools with 51,155 pupils, but the number of students per classroom on average is 93, which is much higher than the national average of 72. Despite the inadequate infrastructure in the district, the UPE policy has led to an increment in students’ number in most of the schools that improvement of educational facilities has been the most urgent need in the region. Through this project, two schools in the district received a four classroom block, five-stance latrines block for students, two-stance latrine block for teachers, water harvesting tank and furniture of students and teachers, benefiting over 700 pupils and 800 other children in the region.
