Percentage of access to safe water in Bulwalasi sub-county was only 51%, much lower than the Sironko District’s average (65%).  52% of the households in the area took more than 2 hours to carry water back home. This situation has caused many cases of diarrhoea and hygiene related diseases in the area, drop out of children and especially girls from schools, and it limited other productive activities of the communities. The project has improved the access to safe water in the Nalusala sub-county by 15% and benefited over 3,500 residences in the area.
