Pope John’s Hospital Aber is a private not-for-profit and the only hospital in Oyam district which caters for patients from the neighbouring districts. The existing Out Patients’ Department (OPD) which has been in existence for 41 years now is dilapidated and too small to handle the huge number of patients. About 300 patients attend OPD on average and pregnant mothers do not have enough privacy during their visits. Through this project, a new OPD will be constructed at the hospital and furnished with the necessary equipment. Emphasis will be on the Maternal and Child Health Unit. This project will benefit over 73,000 persons who will benefit from the services each year and this will include the mothers who are in need of maternal services.
