Amuria is one of the districts most affected by the insurgency of the LRA and the cattle rustling by armed Karimojong, which has forced more than 200,000 people to be internally displaced. It is said that 82 % of the Internally Displaced People has returned to their land, however they are now facing the problem of access to safe water, where they have to walk more than an hour to get the drinkable water. The projects will improve the access to safe water of these people who has returned to their land to secure their livelihoods.
2. Grant Contract Ceremony
The Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, H.E. Keiichi Kato, has signed the grant contract with Dr. Jjuuko Fulgensio, Executive Director, Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI) on 28th September 2010 at the Embassy of Japan.
3. Handing Over Ceremony
The Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, Mr. Kazuo Minagawa, attended the handing over ceremony at Asingei community, Wera Sub-county in Amuria on 21stJuly 2011.
