Alere Senior Secondary School is the only government aided school in Adropi Sub-county in Adjumani district. The school was established in 1991 by strong desire of refugees from Sudan and it was officially registered as government aided school in 1996. Although the school currently has girls’ dormitory blocks which were funded by international aid agencies such as JRS and UNHCR, there is no accommodation for boys. As a result, many of them sleep in local huts or outside with mattresses in unhygienic environment which has placed them at risk of health problems. This project will construct 3 boys’ dormitory blocks and procure 97 beds, and it will contribute to improvement in living and learning conditions for 500 boys.
