Kyotera Medical Center was established in 1999 and acts as a referral health centre for small health service centers located in the remote areas around Kyotera Town. It is the only medical center providing maternity services in Kyotera sub-county at Rakai District. Currently, 73% of deliveries are carried in an unsafe environment because of the luck of facilities at medical institutes in the region. Addition to its maternity ward constrain, the insufficient equipment of the operational theatre, examination room and the dental clinic in Kyotera Medical Centre is forcing the centre to refer their patients to very far hospitals, which is placing the patients lives in risk. The project will construct a maternity ward and procure medical equipment for operational theatre, examination room and dental clinic together with a generator to improve the services at the health centre.
