“Missionaries of the Poor” was established in Uganda in 2000 and is a home for more than 400 homeless men, women and children who are either mentally or physically challenged, HIV/AIDS affected or refugee children. Besides, the home provides free medical care for more than 50 vulnerable and destitute people every day, and offers access to education for over 800 children and youths. Due to the limited means of transportation, the patients in need of urgent treatments or operations have difficulties in accessing near hospitals, and disabled children are unable go to school. An ambulance and a utility bus have been procured through this grant to improve access for the patients and vulnerable children.
