Kotomor Sub-County in Agago District, a new district carved out from Pader District in 2010, was affected by 20 years of armed conflicts, and most of the infrastructure and social service deliveries remain dysfunctional. Although the resettlement of the internally displaced persons started in 2006, many people in the sub-county have no access to safe water. As a result, they have to walk long distances in search of drinking water which has put heavy burden on women and children. In addition, many people suffer from water borne diseases, since people have to fetch unsafe drinking water from a nearby spring. This project will construct 15 boreholes increasing access to safe water for 5,586 villagers in 15 villages in Kotomor Sub-County.
