Kole and Oyam Districts in the northern Uganda had been affected by 20 years of armed conflicts, and social services remain dysfunctional. Although the resettlement of internally displaced persons started in 2006, many people in the districts have no access to safe water. As a result, women and children bear a burden since they have to walk long distances and spend a lot of their time in search of drinking water. In addition, many people suffer from water borne diseases because they are compelled to fetch unsafe drinking water from a nearby spring. This project will construct 13 boreholes which will provide access to safe water for 13,415 people in Kole and Oyam Districts.
