GGP Grant: Japan Supports Maternal Health in Kwania District

On September 23, Ambassador Fukuzawa officiated in the commissioning of the newly constructed maternity ward at Abedber Health Center III in Kwania District. "The Project for the Construction of a Maternity Ward at Abedober Health Centre III in Apac Distric" was signed between the Embassy of Japan and the health centre in 2019 with a total grant of 92,993 USD equivalent to over 323 million Ug. Shs. (The area which the health centre was located, was in the Apac District at the time of the signing). The fund was used to construct a maternity ward, a latrine block and a placenta pit, procure a set of medical furniture and solar power system, which will provide over 33 mothers per month a comfortable and safe environment for their deliveries.
