On 6 August, Deputy Ambassador Yoshimura attended the handover ceremony of the newly constructed maternity ward equipped with medical furniture at St. Francis Acumet Health Centre III in Kapelebyong District.

Through this project, the health centre now has an independent maternity unit, enabling approximately 150 patients per week to receive maternal healthcare in an hygienic and spacious environment. In addition, by alleviating congestion in the general ward, the project is expected to improve the overall efficiency of the medical services provided at the health centre.

Hon. Esenu Anthony, the Member of Parliament representing Kapelebyong County/District, Government Officials from Kapelebyong District, were among the guests who attended the ceremony and expressed their appreciation for the contribution of the Government of Japan.

This project, titled “The Project for the Construction of a Maternity Ward at St. Francis Acumet Health Centre III in Kapelebyong District” (grant amount: USD 72,694), was implemented under the Japanese Government's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme.
