GGP Grant: The Project for the Construction of an Outpatient Ward at Busiriba Health Centre II in Kamwenge District
2025/9/12

The Embassy of Japan in Uganda handed over the newly constructed outpatient ward that includes a podoconiosis examination room, medical equipment, and furniture for medical use at Busiriba Health Centre II in Kamwenge District.
Through this project, it is expected that an annual approximate of 9,000 patients will benefit from avoiding outdoor consultations and wait times, as well as a quick and accurate medical care indoors. Kamwenge District has the highest incidence rate of podoconiosis in the country, which is caused by mineral particles penetrating the skin and leading to lymphedema. With the establishment of a dedicated consultation room for podoconiosis patients through this project, it is expected that approximately 1,200 podoconiosis patients will be able to receive a private and accurate medical care.
This project, titled “The Project for the Construction of an Outpatient Ward at Busiriba Health Centre II in Kamwenge District” (Grant amount: USD 82,560), was implemented under the Japanese Government's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme, in response to a request from Busiriba Sub-County, a local government body.
