On 4 November 2025, Ambassador Sasayama and the Country Director of Action Against Hunger signed the Grant Contracts (G/C) of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) at the Embassy of Japan.
 
Action Against Hunger (ACF) will implement “The Project for the Construction of a Classroom Block at Bukinda Primary School in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Kikuube District” and will receive USD 122,999 from the Government of Japan. Through this project, a classroom block with three (3) classrooms, a 995m-fence with a gate and guard house, and two latrine blocks will be constructed. Fifty four (54) three-seater school desks for pupils, three (3) desks and chairs for teachers will also be provided to improve the learning and teaching environment, keep pupils in school and enable them to complete primary education.
 
Ambassador Sasayama delivered a speech at the ceremony, congratulating ACF for being successfully selected out of approximately 300 applicants. The ambassador also highlighted the importance of the education sector in Uganda, as well as pledging to continue Japan’s contribution to support the refugee population in Uganda under the current funding crisis towards them.
