On 26th April, Ambassador Fukuzawa attended the commissioning ceremony of “The Project for the Construction of a Library and Multi-purpose Hall at Kapchorwa Mountain Primary School in Kapchorwa District” and formally handed over the newly constructed multipurpose hall and school furniture. At the ceremony, Ambassador Fukuzawa expressed his hope that the facilities would be used with utmost care for current and future pupils, as well as the residents of Kapchorwa town.
The facilities were provisioned at a total cost of 92,274 USD, equivalent to over 306 million Ug. Shs, through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
Through this project, a new multipurpose school building (comprising a library and a multipurpose hall) has been constructed, enabling approximately 420 pupils of the school as well as an average of about 200 Kapchorwa residents per day to access the library. As a result, it is expected to benefit approximately 53,000 residents of the area. Furthermore, the multipurpose hall will facilitate the regular implementation of vocational training and sports promotion activities. In particular, about 100 young women (aged 16–24) from nearby communities will be able to acquire skills such as tailoring each year. The project is also expected to contribute to improving the quality of life and promoting the health of local residents.
