Hosting a Tea Ceremony Experience Event

On August 19, 2026, a tea ceremony experience event was held at the Ambassador's residence.

The event featured a demonstration of temae (the formal procedures of Japanese tea ceremony) with the generous support of Mr. Yoshifumi Yamaguchi, Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador, and the Tea Ceremony Club of the Japanese Association. Participants had the opportunity to savor matcha and traditional Japanese sweets (wagashi).

The demonstration was followed by a lively question-and-answer session, during which many questions were raised by the participants. The event proved to be a highly enriching occasion, deepening participants' understanding of the spirit and etiquette of the tea ceremony, as well as the cultural background of matcha, which has been attracting growing interest in Uganda in recent years.
