Signing Ceremony for “The Project for the Construction of an NICU at Bwera Hospital in Kasese District” under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)

On 12 December 2022, Ambassador Fukuzawa and the representative of Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Uganda signed the Grant Contract (G/C) of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) at the Ambassador's residence. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Diana Atwine, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health and Hon. Eliphazi Muhindi, Kasese Disctrict LCV Chairman who congratulated on its decision to implement this project in Kasese district, which is very important for the southern region of Uganda.
Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Uganda will implement “The Project for the Construction of an NICU at Bwera Hospital in Kasese District” and will receive USD 91,849 from the Government of Japan. Through this project, it is expected that around 1,500 neonatal patients who require intensive care annually visiting Bwera Hospital will benefit from the improved decent facility.
Ambassador Fukuzawa delivered a speech at the ceremony praising the efforts of the organization that passed the GGP's rigorous selection process and expressing his hope that the implementation of the project will go smoothly. The representative of Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Uganda delivered a speech and promised to work to treat more neonatal patients through the implementation of this project.
