Presentation by ABE Initiative alumni
On 1 February, Ambassador Fukuzawa attended ABE Initiative* Introduction and Networking Meeting organized by JICA Uganda with Ugandan Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Kaahwa Tophace. About 30 participants from ABE Initiative alumni, the government, Japanese and local business companies attended the event, where three ABE Initiative alumni introduced the programme and presented their current activities and confirmed expectations for further development of the program and interaction.
Ambassador Fukuzawa stated that he was pleased to see the success of the alumni in Uganda and hoped that they would continue to play an active role in building bridges between Uganda and Japan.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Inoue, the Representative of JICA Uganda Office, expressed his pleasure that the alumni of the program are now active in Uganda and other countries, making use of the experience they gained through the program, and promised to make efforts to continue develoing the program.
In her remarks, H.E. Kaahwa, Ambassador of Uganda to Japan, expressed her hope that the experience and networks gained by the alumni through their participation in ABE Initiative will be used to continue and support the activities that connect the two countries.
 
*ABE (African Business Education Initiative for Youth) Initiative: The program offers opportunities for African youth to study master’s course at Japanese universities as international students and to experience internships at Japanese companies.
