National Day Reception to celebrate the 63rd Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On February 23, Ambassador Fukuzawa hosted the National Day Reception to celebrate the 63rd Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan at the Ambassador’s Residence. State Minister for Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Honorable Amos Lugoloobi attended as the guest of honor at the reception. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the reception was held for the first time in three years, and was attended by around 250 guests from various institutions such as Ugandan government, business sectors, members of diplomatic missions and international organizations.
In his speech, Ambassador Fukuzawa mentioned the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations last year and the bilateral relations to date including the establishment of the Uganda-Japan Parliamentarians Forum and development assistance projects to Uganda, and stated that he would continue to work to further strengthen the bilateral relations.
Hon. State Minister Lugoloobi expressed his pleasure at the longstanding good bilateral relations and development assistance, and expressed his hope for further expansion of cooperation in areas such as tourism and investment.
At the venue, the guests enjoyed the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Japan through the screening of a video introducing Japanese culture, banners introducing Japanese companies, a Japanese sake booth, and Japanese food prepared by Ambassador's official chef.
