Speech from the Head Teacher
On 28 January 2026, Ambassador Sasayama and the Head Teacher of Amorigoga Primary School signed the Grant Contract (G/C) of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) at the Embassy of Japan.
Amorigoga Primary School will implement “The Project for the Construction of Classroom Blocks at Amorigoga Primary School in Kwania District” and will receive USD 99,134 from the Government of Japan. Through this project, two classroom blocks (a total of four classrooms with capacity for 212 pupils), and three latrine blocks (five stances of boys’ latrine and 11 stances of girls’ latrine) will be constructed, and school furniture (76 sets of three-seater desks for pupils, one teachers’ desk, and four teachers’ chairs) will be provided. As a result, the average number of pupils per classroom, particularly in P1, 3, 4, and 5 where overcrowding is severe, will be reduced from the current 135 to 81 per class. The number of users per girls’ latrine will reduce from 198 to 41 per stance, and for boys’ latrine from 113 to 51 per stance. This will enable a total of 1,162 pupil and teachers at Amorigoga Primary School to continue learning and teaching in a safe and appropriate environment.
Ambassador Sasayama delivered a speech at the ceremony, highlighted the importance of the education sector which is one of the foundations of life and the future for the people of Uganda. He also encouraged the school and the local community to take ownership of the project, emphasizing appropriate implementation and long-term maintenance so that it will benefit the entire community for years to come.
